Polish citizenship cases

The Law Firm provides legal assistance to foreigners applying for Polish citizenship. These cases require knowledge of administrative procedures, proper preparation of documents and precise demonstration of compliance with statutory conditions.
The assistance of our law firm includes both the preparation of the application and representation before administrative authorities and advice at every stage of the proceedings.
A foreigner may acquire Polish citizenship on the basis of one of the following procedures:
• recognition as a Polish citizen – a decision of the voivode issued when the foreigner meets the statutory conditions (e.g. appropriate time of legal stay, knowledge of the Polish language, stable life and professional situation),
• granting citizenship by the President of the Republic of Poland – a discretionary procedure, regardless of the length of stay and other formal requirements, based on the decision of the head of state,
• restoration of Polish citizenship – for persons who lost their Polish citizenship before 1 January 1999 as a result of certain legal events,
• acquisition of citizenship by operation of law – in special cases provided for in the Act, e.g. by a child of a Polish citizen.
As part of the assistance provided, our Law Firm offers:
— assessment of the legal situation of the foreigner and selection of the appropriate procedure for acquiring citizenship,
— preparation and submission of an application for recognition, granting or restoration of citizenship,
— support in completing the required documentation (m.in. confirmation of residence, certificates of no criminal record, identity documents, certificates of knowledge of the Polish language, transcriptions of foreign civil status records),
— representation before the voivode, the President of the Republic of Poland and before administrative courts in cases concerning the acquisition of citizenship by a foreigner.
Proceedings for Polish citizenship are characterized by lengthiness and detailed documentation requirements. Lack of required attachments, formal errors or imprecise justification of the application may result in prolongation of the case or its consideration in a manner unfavorable to the foreigner.
Our Law Firm provides full substantive and procedural support, taking care of the compliance of the application with the applicable law and the current practice of administrative authorities.
